The study by pollster IBRiS found that the average Polish family expects to spend PLN 1,575.95 (EUR 370, USD 390) on gifts, food, decorations, family gatherings and other holiday expenses—marking the highest figure in the past five years.
The pollster attributed this increase to inflation and a greater willingness to indulge in holiday spending.
Overall, Polish consumers are projected to spend PLN 21.9 billion on Christmas.
The survey also found that Poles plan to allocate a smaller proportion of their holiday budget to gifts this year—51 percent, down from 66 percent last year.
Cosmetics emerged as the most popular Christmas gift choice, with 38.5 percent of respondents planning to purchase them.
Toys were the next most popular (33.9 percent), followed by sweets (30.8 percent), clothing (29.1 percent), and electronic equipment (24.2 percent).
Books are on the gift list for 21.8 percent of respondents, while 17.5 percent plan to give jewellery, and 7.8 percent will purchase computer games.
Meanwhile, 26.5 percent of respondents plan to give cash as a gift.
The survey was carried out on November 24 and 25 using the computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) method, with a nationwide sample of 1,100 respondents.
