The charity is one of Poland's largest non-governmental organizations, known for its annual fundraising campaigns to support healthcare services.

The threats were posted on social media, where the woman wrote messages including "Die, man," and accused Owsiak of financial impropriety, referencing his family and alleged assets.

According to Andrzej Kukawski, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Toruń, the threats caused Owsiak "justified fear for his life."

Police arrested the woman on Wednesday and confiscated her phone.

During questioning, the woman, identified as Izabela M., denied intending harm, claiming she acted out of frustration and "didn’t mean anything bad."

She is now under police supervision, required to report to a local station three times a week, and prohibited from contacting Owsiak, approaching him within 100 meters, or discussing the case publicly, including online.

A bond of PLN 300 (around USD 75) has also been imposed.

The case follows a similar incident involving a 38-year-old man from Odrzykoń, southern Poland, who was arrested for offering a bounty of PLN 100,000 PLN (around USD 25,000) on Facebook for Owsiak’s assassination.

He faces charges of incitement to murder and making criminal threats. Prosecutors confirmed he is being held in custody.

Owsiak has been a prominent figure in Polish public life as the founder of WOŚP, which raises funds for healthcare equipment and services. He is no stranger to targeted hate and hostility from right-wing circles and segments of Poland's right-wing media.

Owsiak is often associated with liberal and progressive values, which contrasts with the stance of Poland's right-wing media and political circles.

His outspoken nature and occasional criticism of the previous right-wing government, particularly regarding healthcare funding and freedom of expression, have made him a target.

The organization is preparing for its 33rd annual fundraiser on January 26, focusing on pediatric oncology and hematology.

Earlier this month, Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk slammed a right-wing TV station for urging citizens to boycott the fundraiser.
