A day after his disappearance, Gilarski made contact with his family, informing them that he was safe and sound, but had landed in a very difficult terrain.

Intensive search continues for missing Polish pilot in Colombia

Gilarski was able to confirm that he was walking back toward civilization and had access to water, as he was near a river. However, despite his update, he was still not found, and the search area expanded to 600 square kilometers.

Local authorities launched an intensive search operation, with the involvement of national authorities, event organizers, and local volunteers.

The search has escalated over time, with volunteers using drones, paramotor pilots, and ground support teams.

A helicopter is on standby in the region, and a team in Europe is assisting with aerial photography. Additionally, there is hope that satellite imagery can be used to aid the search once the weather clears.

Aleksandra Gilarska, the daughter of the missing man, appealed for help during an interview with Polish Radio, asking for support, including from online communities.

All local services are involved in the search, covering an area of up to 600 square kilometers.

The event organizers, where the Polish paraglider was participating, set up a fundraising campaign to cover the search costs, and any unused funds will go towards future safety projects in the paragliding community.
