The attack occurred on Wednesday, 27 August, outside a restaurant in the centre of Siedlce, around 90 miles (145km) east of Warsaw.

The men appeared in court on Friday, where prosecutors requested their temporary detention, Krzysztof Czyżewski, the district prosecutor in Siedlce, said.

The suspects initially could not give statements due to intoxication but later told authorities they had no memory of the incident because they had been drinking. If convicted, they face three to five years in prison.
