He said the Health Ministry will soon present proposals. The NFZ received an extra PLN 3.5 billion (EUR 822 million) for provider settlements; total 2025 state subsidies are PLN 31 billion (EUR 7.3 billion), trimming this year’s gap to about PLN 10.5 billion (EUR 2.47 billion).
Tusk said outlays in 2026 will be nearly PLN 80 billion (EUR 18.8 billion) higher than at the end of the previous government’s term, but “money must be spent much more wisely.”
The ministry is weighing changes to the statutory minimum-pay rules, including a two-year freeze and shifting indexation to January. The minister favors setting maximum wages for medics paid from public funds.
Official data show the median specialist doctor contract at PLN 24,600 (EUR 5,800) in September 2024; the top 1% ranged from PLN 100,000 to 300,000 (EUR 23,500-70,500), across 431 contracts.
