The survey, conducted by pollster United Surveys for the Wirtualna Polska news website, found that 42.1 percent of respondents believe conditions have deteriorated since the change of government.

Of those, 27.6 percent said the situation is "definitely worse" and 14.5 percent said it is "rather worse."

By contrast, 31.7 percent said the situation has improved, including 12.3 percent who described it as "definitely better" and 19.4 percent who said it is "better" than under the previous government.

A further 25 percent said conditions have remained largely unchanged.

The poll asked respondents: "In your opinion, after two years of the current coalition government, is the situation in Poland better, worse or the same as under the previous government?”

Views differed sharply along political lines.

Among supporters of the governing coalition, 65 percent said the situation has improved, while 30 percent said it has not changed. About 3 percent offered a negative assessment.

Among opposition voters, 77 percent said conditions have worsened, and 20 percent said they have remained the same.

Men were more critical than women, with 52 percent of men saying the situation has deteriorated, compared with 30 percent of women.

Age groups also differed. A majority of respondents aged 18 to 29 said conditions have not changed, while 42 percent said they have improved.

The most positive assessments came from respondents aged 70 and older, 61 percent of whom said the situation has improved.

Geographically, dissatisfaction was strongest in rural areas, where about half of respondents said conditions have worsened.

In urban areas, 57 percent said nothing has changed, 28 percent reported an improvement and 15 percent said the situation has deteriorated.

The poll was conducted from December 5 to 8 using a combination of telephone and online interviews on a representative sample of 1,000 adults.
