The Central Way of the Cross procession has become an annual tradition, attracting large crowds of participants for years now - and 2026 was no exception. Crowds of the faithful, for whom participation in the service has become an important element of their Good Friday experience, marched through the streets of the capital for the 30th time already.

The 2026 Central Way of the Cross began at 8:00 PM on Friday, and the service was led by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Warsaw, Adrian Galbas. This year's reflections, focused on "jointly carrying the burden", were prepared and delivered by Polish TV personality, Przemysław Babiarz.

The procession was led by Poland's church officials and representatives of various professions - from bishops and priests, through representatives of uniformed services (including the firemen, police and military's territorial forces), to medical professionals, students, scouts, and members of various religious groups and communities.

The Central Way of the Cross first marched through the streets of Warsaw in 1994.
