The Polish team of eight students (and four teachers-supervisors) won as many medals - four silver and four gold - at the 3rd International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad, held in Kazakhstan's Astana. In total, over 400 students participated in the competition.
The distinguished Polish competitors are exceptionally talented students of high schools and technical schools from the Polish cities of Kraków, Kielce, Szczecin, Toruń, Warsaw and Wrocław.
These excellent individual results earned Poland third place out of 103 countries and territories from around the world participating in the event, outperformed by only Russia and China.
The Olympiad required young programmers to demonstrate extensive knowledge and unconventional thinking. The competition program included both team and individual competitions. Participants had to solve complex problems in the rapidly evolving fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
It's worth noting that the success in Astana continues the excellent streak of Polish students. The Olympiad organizers point out that Poles have long been among the world's leading IT experts.
In 2025 in China's Beijing the Polish team won seven individual medals and took first and third place in the team competition. A year earlier, Poles took second and thirteenth place in the team competition in Bulgaria's Burgas, and took home one gold and three silver medals in the individual competition in Saudi Arabia's Riyadh.
