Survey participants rated their cities based on how easy it was to get around by bike. A list of the 20 most cycling-friendly cities worldwide was created.
Cambridge received positive ratings from 83.2 percent of its residents. Time Out magazine highlighted the city's flat terrain, mild climate and infrastructure designed to support cycling.
According to statistics cited by Time Out, a third of all journeys in Cambridge are made by bike.
Copenhagen came second, with 79.2 percent positive ratings, followed by Vienna.
Warsaw ranked fourth in Europe, while Stockholm came fifth, followed by Seville and Rotterdam.
Rotterdam’s position reflects the ranking’s methodology, under which Time Out included only the highest-rated city from each country to ensure geographical diversity. As a result, Rotterdam represented the Netherlands instead of Amsterdam.
The European top 10 also included Helsinki, Frankfurt and Luxembourg.
