To compare, Belgium has 840 deaths per million residents, according to new data released by the Polish health ministry, while Britain has 642 and Spain reports 606.
The list of countries severely hit by the coronavirus also includes Italy, with 575 deaths per million population, Sweden with 526, and France with 457, according to the Polish health ministry.
The neighbouring Czech Republic has a lower proportion of coronavirus deaths than Poland, at 32 per million residents, while Lithuania has 29, three more than Croatia, and 11 more than Greece, the new data found.
By Wednesday, Poland's health ministry had confirmed a total of 34,775 coronavirus infections and 1,477 deaths from the COVID-19 respiratory disease.
Poland in early June reported a coronavirus death rate of 31 per million population.
