Poland’s Health Minister Adam Niedzielski and the CEO of the US National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), Robert W. Carlson, approved the memorandum of understanding in Washington on Tuesday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Niedzielski told reporters afterwards that “the memorandum of understanding in the field of oncology” paved the way ”for a wider application of tried and tested treatment methods.”
The Polish health minister said: “We are now in the process of setting up a National Cancer Network to treat patients on the basis of a standard approach that has already been verified in practice. American cancer centres boast the highest quality of treatment.”
He added: “The patients of the new Polish National Cancer Network will be treated according to international best practice," with "procedures updated in line with the latest medical technology.”
Meanwhile, the NCCN's Carlson said that Tuesday’s agreement would help expand cooperation between Polish and American centres on cancer prevention and education, the PAP news agency reported.
The National Comprehensive Cancer Network is an alliance of 32 leading cancer treatment and research centres in the United States, the PAP news agency reported.
