Poland with ‘very high proficiency’ in English skills

According to the latest EF English Proficiency Index, Poles are in 13th place, the lowest in the ‘very high proficiency’ band.

The Netherlands is at the top with 661 points, followed by Singapore (642), Austria, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Portugal, Germany, Croatia and South Africa. The score for Poland is 600 points, with the world’s average of 502.

The remaining proficiency bands are ‘high’, ’moderate’, ‘low’ and ‘very low’.

The world’s largest ranking of countries and regions by English skills, it is based on test results of 2 million adults in 111 countries and regions.

A total of 1,200 Poles (613 men and 587 women) were covered by the tests.

The index has been published by the international language school EF Education First.
