Officers will be paying special attention to the speed at which vehicles travel during the holiday period, according to Robert Opas from the National Police Headquarters (KGP).

Traffic police will also be checking to make sure drivers are sober and that their cars are in good condition, state news agency PAP reported.

The Safe Easter 2023 road safety campaign began on Friday morning and runs until Monday, when many Poles will be returning home from the holiday break, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Twenty-seven people were killed in 174 accidents on Polish roads during last year’s four-day Easter weekend, police said.

The Easter weekend is usually when Poles spend time with their extended families and travel extensively to visit their relatives.
