The study by pollster CBOS found that 88 percent of Poles believe their country as a whole is a safe place to live.

Meanwhile, nine percent of respondents said that Poland was not a safe country to live in, while three percent were undecided.

The percentage of those saying their neighbourhood or residential area were safe has increased by 5 percentage points from the previous such study, the pollster said.

The latest survey was conducted from April 11 to 20 on a representative, random sample of 1,081 adults.

A separate study by the same researcher last month found that 72 percent of respondents believe that Russia's invasion of Ukraine posed a direct threat to Poland’s security.
