The game's developer, Luc Bernard, was inspired by his grandmother's participation in the Kindertransport scheme, which rescued over 10,000 Jewish children from Europe before war erupted.

The game navigates the tragic story of a Jewish family from Poland living in Vichy France, portraying their capture in the Vel d'Hiv Roundup and subsequent deportation to Auschwitz. While the narrative allows for player interaction, the family's fate remains unchanged.

Bernard, having spent a year on research, consulted with Holocaust survivors and referred to archives from prominent Holocaust museums. He emphasized the game's accuracy, noting, "We checked everything once, twice, three times."

Highlighting the game's global relevance, Bernard mentioned its potential impact in regions like Africa and Asia, where the Holocaust isn't widely taught. He also pointed out that many Americans are unaware of France's role in WWII, with misconceptions about Germany's sole responsibility.

"Games like 'Call of Duty' hardly mention the Holocaust. It's almost like denying its existence," Bernard told Agence-France Presse.
