Zofia and Nikodem: most popular baby names in Poland

Zofia was the most popular name given to baby girls in Poland in the first half of this year, while Nikodem was the top choice for boys, officials have said.

Nikodem has edged out Antoni as the most popular name given to baby boys in Poland. Meanwhile, Zofia remains the top pick for girls.

Next on the list for girls were Zuzanna and Laura, while Antoni and Jan made up the rest of the top three for boys, according to the digital policy department at the Polish Prime Minister's Office.

Other girl names popular in Poland in the first six months of 2023 were Hanna, Maja and Julia, while Aleksander, Franciszek and Leon were among popular picks for boys.

A year earlier, Antoni was the No. 1 name for boys, while Jan was runner-up.

Nikodem was in fifth place a year ago.
