A bizarre scene has broken the internet with photos of a car encased in concrete on a city street in central Poland, the PAP news agency reported on Friday.

A video was posted on the Facebook's LDZ Zmotoryzowani Łodzianie profile showing construction workers pouring and leveling concrete around a car parked on a street in the centre of Łódź.

In a precautionary measure, the vehicle was carefully shielded with plastic and encircled by wooden boards to safeguard its tires from the encroaching concrete.

"According to residents' accounts, the contractor had been trying to locate the car's owner since Thursday, to no avail, however," Jarosław Kostrzewa of LDZ Zmotoryzowani Łodzianie told PAP.

“The contractor had notified the municipal police, whose patrol placed a fine and a warning note on the car's windshield but chose not to tow it away”, he added.

“In the meantime, a concrete mixer truck arrived and the contractor, unwilling to endure further delays,  resolved the problem in a way that has now become another ludicrous hallmark of Łódź", Kostrzewa elaborated.

"The car will be towed tomorrow”, spokesperson for the Mayor of Łódź, Marcin Masłowski, told PAP on Friday

“The contractor had previously spoken to all the owners who parked their cars on the street, asking them to move their vehicles. The owner of that particular car promised to relocate it but failed to do so," he explained.
