Izabela Leszczyna made the announcement at a news confrence on Friday.

The health minister noted that President Andrzej Duda had signed the citizens' bill on state funding for IVF into law, and Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Tuesday confirmed there would be PLN 500 million (EUR 115 million) for the purpose in the 2024 budget.

Leszczyna told reporters "the programme will be ready in the spring" to ensure "it will be launched on June 1," as pledged by the prime minister.

One of the advocates of the citizens' IVF bill, Agnieszka Pomaska from the co-governing Civic Coalition (KO), said it had been signed by "half a million Polish people."

She added that for some it represented the only option to become parents, such as for female oncological patients, the PAP news agency reported.
