Musk, world’s richest individual with a net worth of USD 227.8 billion and the renowned CEO of Tesla and the X platform (colloquially still known as Twitter), is scheduled to make an appearance at a symposium on anti-Semitism in Kraków, as well as a ceremony at the Auschwitz site. The news, initially reported by Bloomberg, indicates that Musk's participation is part of an event organized by the European Jewish Association (EJA).

Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Andrzej Szejna, while confirming Musk's attendance, also noted his own participation.

Szejna emphasized the importance of the symposium and ceremony, particularly in combating anti-Semitism, racism, and hate speech. "I think this is probably the reason why among the invited guests who have confirmed their attendance is Mr. Musk," he said, underlining the significance of Musk's presence.

The symposium, which includes a discussion between Musk and American right-wing columnist Ben Shapiro, aims to address the growing concerns around anti-Semitism on the Internet. Set to take place on January 22-23, the event coincides with International Holocaust Remembrance Day, commemorated a week later.

Bloomberg recalled Musk's tentative agreement in the fall of 2023 to visit Auschwitz, following a live discussion with EJA head Rabbi Menachem Margolin. This commitment came at a time when Musk faced accusations of anti-Semitism over controversial statements on the X platform, in which he agreed with an anonymous user of the X platform claiming that Jewish communities promote "hatred against whites" and are responsible for bringing "hordes of minorities that flood the country."

His tweet was condemned by the White House, and in response a number of major advertisers, including Disney, announced a boycott of the platform. Musk later admitted that his statement was "literally the worst and dumbest post that I've ever done."
