In a small village in Kielce County, a deer found itself trapped beneath the ice of a frozen pond. The freezing and weakened animal was unable to reach the surface, prompting a concerned walker to alert the local firefighters.
Early on Sunday morning, the firefighting units went into action. Cpt Marcin Bajur, the press officer of the Kielce Regional Fire Service Headquarters, said that "to pull the deer out of the pond, firefighters used transport belts."
The operation involved the collaboration of two firefighting units, and to further ensure the deer's well-being, a veterinarian joined the scene to provide a thorough examination of the rescued animal.
While celebrating the success of the heroic rescue, Bajur emphasized that the incident serves as a crucial warning to the public, and that venturing onto frozen lakes, ponds, or rivers poses significant risks, reinforcing the importance of safety and caution during winter activities.
