Homework isn't that bad after all?

A public opinion poll conducted after the changes in homework rules introduced by the ministry of education have found that over half of the country would like to keep homework. (The new rules ban homework altogether for Grades I to III and for the remainder of primary school, homework can only be optional and not graded.)

As we wrote earlier, changes to the rules governing homework implemented by the new Ministry of Education (changes designed to "soften" the experience of school especially for the younger years) have provoked discussion:

Now IBRiS has carried out a survey of public opinion on these changes and, perhaps surprisingly, they are not entirely approved of.

50.9% of respondents said they disapproved (either strongly or moderately) while 43% were positive about the changes - split down the middle between highly positive and moderately positive.
