Tomasz Komenda had been given a 25-year sentence for a 1996 murder and rape of a 15-year-old girl.
The parents of the victim in 2017 asked Poland’s justice minister to reconsider the case. An investigation was reopened and prosecutors concluded that Komenda had not committed the crime.
Poland’s Supreme Court in 2018 acquitted him of the charges.
Another man has been arrested and charged with the killing.
