The snow leopard, also known as the irbis, is part of the feline family.

Although the cub was born six weeks ago (on June 2), the announcement has just been made.

The Polish zoo celebrated the arrival of this male cub, born to Suri and Jamir. His mother came from Germany, and his father from the United Kingdom.

At birth, the cub weighed just 685 grams. Now, he weighs 2560 grams, and his first canines are emerging.

"The little irbis is still wary and is exploring every corner of his bedroom. He needs to grow a bit more before he can take his first walk outside with his mother (in the wild, snow leopards start following their mothers at around three months old)," his caretakers shared via social media.

There are only about 400 of these animals left in the world, mainly in Tibet and Central Asia. Due to their nearly silent movements, they are commonly referred to as "Mountain Ghosts."

International Snow Leopard Day is celebrated annually on October 14, initiated by the World Wide Fund for Nature.
