More than 20,000 customers were left without electricity at one point after fierce winds uprooted trees and disrupted power supplies in various parts of the country, including the northern regions of Pomorskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie.
Firefighters were called out almost 5,000 times to help deal with the aftermath of the storms, which also battered Poland's southern Małopolskie region, Lubelskie in the east, and the central province of Mazowieckie, which contains the capital Warsaw, Karol Kierzkowski, a spokesman for the State Fire Service, told public broadcaster Polish Radio on Wednesday morning.

Strong winds damaged the roofs of 177 buildings in various areas of the country, including 42 in the southeastern Podkarpackie region, officials said.
Four people were hurt, including two volunteer firefighters, state news agency PAP reported.
In Gdynia, on the Baltic coast, broken trees damaged a trolleybus traction system, injuring one person, it said.
In Olsztyn, in the northeastern Warmińsko-Mazurskie province, a falling tree branch injured a passerby, according to Kierzkowski.
