The Polish Ministry of National Education will allocate 4 million PLN (930,172.10 EUR) for the purchase of menstrual hygiene products for schools across the country.
Before the Polish Ministry of Education introduced menstrual products into schools, some Polish universities, including the University of Warsaw, had already started placing pink boxes in womens restrooms containing free personal hygiene products (pads and tampons).

The pilot program, starting in the new school year, will grant funds to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for buying sanitary pads and tampons, as well as for organizing educational sessions on health and personal hygiene.

Piotr Otrębski, the spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that the grants will also support initiatives against menstrual exclusion.

“The program targets NGOs that can apply for funding to purchase menstrual hygiene products and organize educational and preventive activities aimed at raising awareness among students about menstrual hygiene,” said the spokesperson.

The program aims to provide menstrual hygiene products to at least 500 public and private schools. Organizations have until September 13 to apply for funding.
