These mobile units are part of the nationwide campaign "Therapy is NOT a Shame," which began last month and culminates with this initiative.
Organized by the "Therapy is NOT a Shame" foundation, this marks the fifth year of the campaign. This year's theme, "You Are Capable of More Than You Think! See Yourself!" focuses on the issue of low self-esteem.
“Although mental health is becoming a more prominent topic in our lives, the fear of judgment and stigma often prevents people from seeking help,” explained the campaign organizers. “We tend to think others have it worse, or we believe we must manage on our own. The well-known phrase, ‘I’ll handle it,’ causes many to delay seeking help until it's too late.”
Alarming suicide statistics
According to data from Poland’s National Police Headquarters, an average of 15 people take their own lives every day in the country. The situation among young people under 18 is particularly concerning, with nearly 1,500 suicide attempts recorded in 2021, 127 of which resulted in death.
As part of the campaign, the Therapy Bus will be stationed in Gdańsk on October 8, 9, and 10, offering free sessions with therapists. The bus, designed to resemble a private psychologist’s office, provides a comfortable and discreet space for one-on-one conversations.

“The goal of these sessions is to offer emotional first aid, address the immediate concerns of those who come for a consultation, and provide guidance on what to focus on in therapy,” said Monika Zdunek of the Therapy is NOT a Shame Foundation.
