The accolade, which recognizes educators admired by students, parents, and local communities, was announced at a ceremony in Warsaw on Tuesday.

Speaking at the event, Wołosewicz highlighted the significance of the teaching profession. "Teachers have power," he said, emphasizing the role of education in shaping the world. "It’s not only about pride, but also passion for the job and respect from those around me, including the students I work with."

Wołosewicz’s dedication was evident in comments from his students and colleagues, who described him as "a great teacher with a sense of humor, dedicated, the best mentor, a one-man band who goes above and beyond to make school better, more interesting, and more fun."

The Teacher of the Year competition, organized by the weekly Głos Nauczycielski since 2002, recognizes outstanding contributions to education across Poland. This year, 13 teachers from various schools and subjects were nominated for the award.

The ceremony took place at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, and this year's event was co-organized by Poland's Ministry of Education. Nominees for the title are submitted by teaching staff, students, parents, local authorities, and social organizations.

"The strength of Teachers of the Year is the ability to establish relationships with students: happy, sad, talented, and difficult students. Because you are wonderful teachers," said Barbara Nowacka, Minister of Education, during the gala.

Wołosewicz expressed his gratitude for the recognition, acknowledging the important role educators play in shaping society. "This competition reminds us just how vital the teaching profession is," he said.
