They admitted to working against Poland while carrying out assignments from Belarusian intelligence agencies.
The arrests were made by the Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW) in March 2023, but the information was only made public on November 4, 2024, after the investigation was concluded.
The main suspect spoke Polish fluently and was regarded as a railway transport specialist, while both spies had extensive social and business contacts.
The national from Belarus was charged with involvement in intelligence activities against Poland, which included reconnaissance of a military airport and surveillance of an ABW facility in Biała Podlaska, located in the eastern part of the country. Additionally, he was accused of gathering information on railway infrastructure. The Polish citizen was charged with aiding in these activities.
Both suspects confessed to the crimes they are accused of, confirms Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration in Poland, who also serves as the Minister and Coordinator of Special Services.
