According to an exit poll conducted by Edison Research, Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential election was primarily secured by white voters, who gave him 12 percentage points more support than Kamala Harris.
Harris gained an advantage among racial minorities, especially Black voters, as well as women, highly educated individuals, and younger voters.
Trump performed better among Latinos, the youngest group of voters, and gained more support from older and less-educated citizens.
Harris leads among women and minorities, but Trump's victory secured by other voters
Kamala Harris received more support from women, earning 54% of their votes compared to Trump’s 44%. However, this result fell short of Democratic expectations, as they had hoped for a higher percentage of support among women, comparable to Joe Biden’s 57% in 2020.
Harris also led among younger voters and those with higher education, but lost ground with Latinos, where Trump gained 10 percentage points from the last election. Trump also had more support among the youngest voters.
Ultimately, despite her advantage among women, Harris was unable to surpass Trump in the race for the White House.
