The oldest animal in European zoos lives in Poland

Marta, a Mississippi alligator born in 1930, is recognized as the oldest living creature in European zoos. She resides at the Płock Zoo, located in central Poland, about 60 miles west of Warsaw.

During the recent Senior Day celebration, the Płock Zoo proudly revealed that it is home to the oldest animal in Europe.

This title belongs to a 94-year-old female Mississippi alligator born in Florida, USA.

Other notable residents include Wanda, a 47-year-old Andean condor, Selma, a 45-year-old gray seal, and Ash, a 39-year-old gibbon ungko, a species native to Southeast Asia.

The list also features Quennie, a 35-year-old common seal, Julka, a 21-year-old giraffe, Tara, an 18-year-old zebra, Sky, a 16-year-old gibbon ungko, Barrack, a 15-year-old Persian leopard, and Kamari, a 13-year-old oryx.
