The case, involving Zdzisław Kurski, the son of Jacek Kurski, a former Member of the European Parliament and former head of Poland’s national broadcaster, sparked outrage in Poland.
The investigation was closed twice by prosecutors in Gdańsk, leading to widespread public anger over another example of an abuser’s impunity and the powerlessness of sexual assault victims.
The head of Polish government demanded that Justice Minister Adam Bodnar provide information on how those responsible for blocking the pursuit of justice will be held accountable.
PM Tusk emphasized that in Poland, there are no "sacred cows" and vowed that there would be no impunity for those who disregarded the suffering of the child, explaining that the perpetrator had avoided justice due to political protection.
"Children are untouchable. We will seek justice for those who tried to bury this case of sexual abuse," the Prime Minister assured.
Jacek Kurski, the father of Zdzisław, defended his son by accusing Donald Tusk of making political attacks, claiming that the allegations were fabricated and calling them slander.
