In an address to members of "the Orthodox Church, the Greek Catholic Church and other Eastern Churches in Poland," the Polish presidential couple said they were wishing Orthodox Christians a "beautiful, joyful and serene" Christmas filled with "peace, rest and true spiritual strengthening."

They added: "May this be a time spent with your loved ones in happiness, prosperity and good health."

The president and first lady also wished Orthodox Christians "many successes and fulfilled dreams" in the new year.

They encouraged "Christians of different denominations across the nation" to "treat each other with respect and friendly openness, supporting one another in service and work for the common good."

Their message was posted on the presidential website on Monday.

Meanwhile, Poland's Roman Catholics on Monday celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany 12 days after Christmas.

About 92 percent of Poles declare themselves to be Catholics, according to statistics released by officials in 2022.

The Polish president last month sent greetings to members of his country’s Jewish community as it celebrated the holiday of Hanukkah.
