Due to freezing rain and ice buildup on the railway tracks, the total delay time for all passenger trains reached 17,000 minutes (equivalent to 283 hours or 11 days and 19 hours).

Severe weather causes major train delays in Poland

In some cases, travel between Warsaw and Olsztyn in the northeastern part of Poland took up to 10 hours, with 6 hours spent in a standstill, according to local media.

As reported by the Informator Stolicy service, a train from Gdynia, located in northern Poland, to Warsaw West in the central part of the country, experienced a 12-hour delay.

Polish State Railways (PKP PLK) assured that they were prepared for the weather conditions, and special trains and locomotives helped mitigate the effects of the weather.

Despite these efforts, some connections were fully or partially canceled, with substitute transport arranged for affected passengers.

Travelers are still encouraged to check current train schedules on the portalpasazera.pl website.

PKP PLK stabilizes rail network after ice disruptions

According to the latest reports, the situation on the railway network is slowly stabilizing. PKP announced via social media that all railway lines are now open, and technical services have completed the removal of ice from the overhead power lines on the Łódź-Warsaw and Lublin-Warsaw routes, where the most significant disruptions were previously reported.
