The charity event “Legacy on Ice” is scheduled for Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The show will support the families of the 67 victims of the tragic plane crash on January 29, 2025, as well as those involved in the rescue operation.
Among the deceased were 28 individuals connected to figure skating, including rising star 12-year-old Brielle Beyer and her mother, who held Polish citizenship. Also on board were 1994 World Champions in pairs figure skating, Russian athletes Yevgeniya Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, who went on to become skating coaches in the U.S.
The event will feature top figure skaters, including current world champion Ilia Malinin, two-time U.S. champion Amber Glenn, Madison Chock and Evan Bates, as well as skating legends like Tara Lipinski, Kristi Yamaguchi, and Scott Hamilton. Olympic champion Brian Boitano from 1988 will co-host the event.
The fundraising effort will be supported by the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation and organizations such as the U.S. Figure Skating Family Support Fund and Greater Washington Community Foundation.
