Poland’s Lewandowski wins award from German weekly

Polish football player Robert Lewandowski has received the Star of the Year 2019 award from the prestigious German weekly "Sport Bild."

In the 2018/2019 season, Lewandowski scored a total of 40 goals for the German side Bayern Munich: 22 in the German league, eight in the Champions League, seven in the German Cup, and three in the Super Cup, Polish website Onet has reported.

Lewandowski was in May crowned the top scorer of Germany's Bundesliga premier league in the 2018/2019 season, his fourth such trophy since he began playing in Germany in 2010.

The Pole in March became the highest-scoring foreign player of all time in the Bundesliga, moving ahead of Peruvian Claudio Pizarro.
