This year’s rally took competitors from the shores of the Red Sea in Jeddah, around the canyons and mountains of the western part of the country, over the dunes of the Empty Quarter and all the way to the Qiddiya Sports and Culture Complex near the capital Riyadh.
Scores of riders, drivers and crew, including two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso, competed in various vehicles over 12 stages.
The drivers and crews faced a total of 7,500 km, including 5,000 km of specials, five of them longer than 450 km.
Poland’s Sonik has finished third in the Dakar Rally’s quad class, while countryman Kamil Wiśniewski came in fifth in the same category.
Polish driver Jakub Przygoński placed 19th in the car category.
