The 24-year-old Pole, ranked world No. 37 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), beat second-seeded Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in their men's singles quarterfinal on Thursday.
Hurkacz will now face Russian Andrey Rublev for a place in the final.
Meanwhile, Poland’s Iga Świątek and Bethanie Mattek-Sands of the United States stormed into the semifinals of the women's doubles at the Miami Open, with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Ukraine’s Lyudmyla Kichenok and Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia on Wednesday.
In the women's singles, Świątek was knocked out of the tournament in the third round last week by Ana Konjuh of Croatia.
The 2021 Miami Open began on March 22 and runs until April 4.
