Women’s volleyball: Poland eye final four of European championships

Poland have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Women's European Volleyball Championship, with a 3-1 win over Ukraine in the tournament’s round of 16 on Sunday.

The Poles will take on Turkey for a place in the final four at the championships on Tuesday.

The Polish team stunned Germany 3-1 in their opening match at the tournament on August 19 and then overpowered Greece 3-0 a day later.

The Poles defeated the Czechs 3-1 on August 19, beat Spain 3-0 on August 24 and lost 1-3 to Bulgaria in their final group-stage match in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv a day later.

The 2021 Women's European Volleyball Championship is being held in Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia and Romania from August 18 to September 4.
