Two more medals for Poland at Tokyo Paralympics

Team Poland won two more medals at the Tokyo Paralympic Games on Tuesday, taking the country's total medal haul so far to 15.

Handcyclist Renata Kałuża took the bronze in the women's time trial event, while shot putter Lucyna Kornobys secured a silver for the Polish team.

Kornobys was beaten only by China's Zou Lijuan, who set a new world record of 9.19 meters.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Polish powerlifter Marzena Zięba took the bronze in the women's over 86 kg event, with a lift of 140 kilograms.

She was beaten by China's Xuemei Deng, who lifted 153 kg, and Nigeria's Loveline Obiji, who managed 147 kg.

Poland has so far won 15 medals at the Tokyo Paralympics, three gold, four silver and eight bronze.

Polish disabled athletes are competing in 12 sports in Japan, including para-athletics, table tennis, swimming, weightlifting and kayaking.

Poland won 39 medals and finished 10th in the overall medal standings at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Polish Radio is a media partner of the Polish team for the Tokyo Paralympics, which run until September 5.
