Poland on Saturday picked up their sixth straight win at the EuroVolley championships, defeating Finland 3-0 in the knockout round of 16 on home turf in the Baltic city of Gdańsk.

The Poles, who are reigning world champions, will now play Olympic silver medal winners Russia for a place in the semifinals of the continental tournament on Tuesday.

The Polish team beat Portugal, Serbia, Greece, Ukraine and Belgium in its previous games at the Men's European Volleyball Championship.

Poland is jointly hosting the 2021 EuroVolley championships, which are also being held in the Czech Republic, Estonia and Finland from September 1 to 19.

The Polish team, under Belgian coach Vital Heynen, reached the quarterfinals of the volleyball tournament at this summer's Tokyo Olympics, where it was knocked out by eventual gold medal winners France.
