Oskar Kwiatkowski made history with his victory, becoming the first Pole ever to win a world championship in alpine snowboarding.

Another Pole, Aleksandra Król, took the bronze medal in the women's snowboard parallel giant slalom event.

Earlier this year, Kwiatkowski made history by becoming the first Polish man to win a World Cup snowboarding event.

The 26-year-old outperformed competitors in the International Ski Federation’s (FIS) snowboarding World Cup parallel giant slalom competition at the Swiss resort of Scuol in January.
