Nine world championship medals for Polish canoers, kayakers

Polish canoers and kayakers claimed a total of nine medals, one gold, five silver and three bronze, at this year’s Canoe Sprint World Championships in Duisburg, Germany.

On Sunday, the last day of the championships, Poland’s kayak duo of Martyna Klatt and Helena Wiśniewska took the silver in the women's K2 500 m event, while Wiktor Głazunow and Sylwia Szczerbińska finished runner-up in the C2 Mix 500 m event.

In another Polish podium finish on Sunday, Dominika Putto took the bronze in the women’s K1 200 m.

Meanwhile, Poland's Głazunow won the bronze in the men’s C1 5000 m.

On Saturday, Głazunow and teammates Aleksander Kitewski, Tomasz Barniak and Norman Zezula grabbed the silver in the men’s C4 500 m, and Justyna Iskrzycka added another in the women’s K1 1000 m.

On Friday, Poland's Klatt and Wiśniewska claimed the gold in the women's K2 200 m, while teammates Karolina Naja, Anna Puławska, Adrianna Kąkol and Dominika Putto took the silver in the women’s K4 500 m.

Meanwhile, Oleksii Koliadych earned a bronze for Poland in the men's C1 200 m.

The 2023 Canoe Sprint World Championships took place in Duisburg from August 23 to 27.

Polish canoers and kayakers claimed a total of seven medals, three gold, three silver and one bronze, at last year’s Canoe Sprint World Championships in Halifax, Canada.
