The 26-year-old Pole, ranked world No. 11 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), defeated American Sebastian Korda, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, in the first round in the French capital on Tuesday.
Up next for Hurkacz in Paris is Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut.
Hurkacz is playing for his eighth career singles title in Paris, while also seeking to secure a berth in the season-ending ATP Finals next month.
The Pole on Sunday played in the final of the Swiss Indoors tournament in Basel, where he lost 4-6, 7-6, 6-7 to Canada's Félix Auger-Aliassime.
Earlier this month, Hurkacz, who is coached by American Craig Boynton, won his seventh singles title by beating Russia's Andrey Rublev in the final of the Shanghai Masters tournament in China.
The 2023 Paris Masters indoor hard-court tournament runs until Sunday.
