Experts say the Pole played no small part in this successful start of the season for his club, gathering praise for his performances from pundits and supporters alike.
With eight clean sheets, two penalties saved and only four shots the opponents managed to squeeze past him in the first 11 matches, Bułka has been pictured as a superhero by both Nice fans and experts.
Bułka, 24, has quite an impressive CV, especially when it comes to the colours he wore as a player so far. Acquired by the valued Polish academy Escola Varsovia at the age of 11, he soon impressed the scouts of Spain's FC Barcelona and England's Chelsea FC, among others. At the age of 17, the Pole decided to join the Chelsea academy, and three years later he transferred to Paris Saint-Germain, another of Europe's giants.
However, until the beginning of the 2023/2024 season, Bułka was not given a chance to become a "firm number one goalkeeper" on the senior level in any of the teams he played for.
Now, after signing the Pole on a permanent basis following his loan from PSG, the manager of OGC Nice decided to make Bułka a starter for the 2023/2024 campaign, and this move has paid off so far, according to experts.
Among the top five European leagues, England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France, the Polish goalie leads in terms of clean sheets so far this season, boasts the highest percentage of shots stopped, and the fewest goals conceded per 90 minutes. He also claims 2nd and 3rd places in other crucial goalkeeping statistics.
International experts have started touting Bułka as the next goalkeeper for Poland's national team to replace Juventus' Wojciech Szczęsny.
