Speed skating: Poland claim silver in women's team sprint at Euro Champs

Poland have won the silver medal in the women's team sprint at the 2024 European Speed Skating Championships in the Netherlands.

The Poles claimed the silver at the Thialf ice arena in Heerenveen on Friday night.

Andżelika Wójcik, Iga Wojtasik and Karolina Bosiek covered the 3,000m distance in 1:28.06mins, finishing 30 seconds behind the winning Dutch team, and 0.77 seconds ahead of third-placed Norway, Eurosport reported. 

Meanwhile, Poland's Marcin Bachanek, Artur Janicki and Szymon Palka came fourth in the men's team pursuit (4,000m), which was won by Norway ahead of Italy and the Netherlands.

Poland's Marek Kania finished sixth in the men's 1,000m event, while Damian Żurek came eighth and Piotr Michalski 10th. 

In the women's 3,000m race, Poland's Magdalena Czyszczoń finished in 7th place.

The 2024 European Speed Skating Championships run until Sunday.
