His effort equaled the fastest time in the world this year, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Meanwhile, countryman Krzysztof Kiljan finished runner-up in 7.66 seconds.

Several Polish track-and-field athletes have shown good form ahead of the world indoor championships in Glasgow next month.

In late January, Polish sprinter Ewa Swoboda set a world lead time of 7.04 seconds in the women’s 60 metres, while countrywoman Pia Skrzyszowska clocked the fastest time in Europe this year in the women's 60 metres hurdles, with 7.85 seconds.

The 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships will be held in Glasgow from March 1 to 3.

In March last year, Szymański won silver in the men's 60 metres hurdles at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.
