Tennis: Poland’s Fręch reaches last eight of Nottingham Open

Poland’s Magdalena Fręch has made it through to the quarterfinals of the women’s singles at the Nottingham Open tennis tournament in Britain.

The 26-year-old Pole, who is ranked world No. 52 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), defeated Germany's Tatjana Maria 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 in their second-round clash in Nottingham on Thursday.

Fręch will now take on home favourite Katie Boulter for a place in the last four.

Fręch has also booked her spot in the quarterfinals of the Nottingham Open women's doubles, partnering with countrywoman Katarzyna Kawa.

The Poles are set to face the American-Chinese duo of Ashlyn Krueger and Zhang Shuai for a place in the semifinals of the grass-court tournament in Nottingham.

The 2024 Nottingham Open, a warm-up event before Wimbledon, runs until Sunday.
