He ran his first marathon after turning forty. Now over twenty years older, his fitness continues to soar.
His recent sports record from last week will be remembered in history, as he became the first Pole over sixty to earn the title of five-time Ironman.
Only a few triathletes worldwide have achieved a similar result, as reported by the local portal iswinoujscie.pl.
The competition, part of the International Ultra Triathlon Association World Championships, consisted of multiple stages, with no breaks between the "5xQuintuple" format events. Competitors demonstrated stamina in running, swimming, and cycling.
Remarkable feat at the Ultra Triathlon World Championships
Mr. Andrzejewski swam 19 km (equivalent to 380 lengths of a pool), cycled 900 km (102 laps of the course, including night riding), and ran 211 km. In total, he covered a distance of 1130 km. The fit sixty-year-old joined Poland's 9-person team competing against over 40 participants from 18 countries.
