Seeded seventh, Pole Jan Zieliński and Su-Wei Hsieh from Taiwan advanced to the mixed doubles final of the prestigious Grand Slam Wimbledon tournament. Their battle for the highest honour in this category, originally scheduled to start at 17:00 CET, was moved to 17:45 due to a prolonged course of the gentlemen's final game.

In Friday's semi-final, the Polish-Taiwanese pair won 7:6 (7-0), 6:3 against the tournament's mixed doubles second seed - New Zealanders Erin Routliffe and Michael Venus.

The match was very tight, lasting one hour and thirty-eight minutes. In the first set, both duos had one break each, so the result was decided by a tie-break. It was dominated by Zieliński and Hsieh, not giving up a single point to their rivals.

The second set went game for game, and only at the end did the Polish-Taiwanese pair manage to break their opponents. This has proven enough to claim the victory, as on the Pole's serve the pair glided quite confidently across the last game of the match.

Zieliński and Hsieh's rivals in the final on Sunday are Mexico's Giuliana Olmos and Santiago Gonzalez, who eliminated Norway's Ulrikke Eikeri and Argentine's Maximo Gonzalez in their semi.

The Pole and the Taiwanese have been a mixed doubles pair since this year - and it is already the second time in this period when they will compete in the Grand Slam final. Previously in 2024, they won the title at the Australian Open.

38-year-old Hsieh, who is paired with Zieliński, is a very successful player. In addition to the victory she won with Zieliński in Melbourne, she has seven Grand Slam doubles triumphs - including four on Wimbledon grass. Meanwhile, it is the third Grand Slam final for the Pole - and the 27th for the country, with a chance for the 11th triumph.
