"I think we have 16 medal chances and we are in a position to convert them," Piesiewicz said in a recent interview, as quoted by the polsatsport.pl website.

He told the media this week that the Polish Olympic Committee has sent tons of equipment to Paris to ensure the comfort of the national team members preparing to compete in the Games.

This equipment includes air conditioning systems, special cooling vests and bicycles for athletes to move around the French capital more efficiently, according to Piesiewicz.

He also said that Tomasz Majewski, Poland's Chef de Mission for the Paris 2024 Games, "is taking care of every detail" to "ensure our athletes have the utmost comfort during the Olympics" so they can focus solely on their competitions.

"We will be happy with every medal won by a Polish athlete," Piesiewicz said. "We can do it."

According to a prediction last month by sports data provider Gracenote, Poland has a chance of winning 15 medals at the Summer Olympics in Paris.

A total of 213 Polish athletes, 100 men and 113 women, have been selected to compete in the Paris Games, which take place from July 26 to August 11.

Poland will be represented by athletes competing in multiple Olympic sports, including 65 track-and-field contestants and 20 swimmers.

Three-time Olympic hammer champion Anita Włodarczyk and 3x3 basketball player Przemysław Zamojski have been named as the flag bearers for the Polish delegation at the opening ceremony of the Games.

The Paris Olympics begin on Friday and run through to August 11.

Polish athletes brought home 14 medals, four gold, five silver and five bronze, from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Summer Games, the national team's best haul this century.

At the Rio Summer Olympics in 2016, Poland won 11 medals, two gold, three silver and six bronze.

At the London Olympics in 2012, Team Poland scooped 10 medals, three gold, two silver and five bronze.
